My advance apology for the length of this memoir.

Firstly, thank you Chel and your co-authors in creating this group and what a way to celebrate Auntie's life.

For those who don't know who is writing this post, I am Florenda aka Florence, Auntie Paz' niece from her big brother Julian who is now 93 years old living in Australia. Sadly, my Father could not remember Auntie's name and all other family members' names for that matter except my Mom's name Mina. 😀 Similar to Auntie, Father has Alzheimer's disease. However, when I showed Father Auntie's photo from his own album, he immediately pointed sharply to Auntie's face and with love and pride he said, "That's my sister who is the brightest of us all".

Auntie Paz was an icon of inspiration to me. Her outstanding reputation precedes her whenever we discuss about her. Within our family circle Auntie's reputable qualities were that of kindness, intelligence, dignity and discernment. A woman of substance.

Auntie was one of the kindest beings in this world. I know it had a lot to do with her love for God. I know she showed her kindness in many ways and in different forms. I felt her kindness from the few, but deep and effective, conversations I had with her. She recounted to me how she set up Uncle Seniong's kids to have decent living accommodation. She assisted my big brother Rey financially when they were just starting out in the U.S. From the many stories and experiences I heard from the Mendoza clan, Auntie's kindness extended to the nieces, nephews, and others who were in need of financial support. I was a recipient of that kindness. Upon graduating from University, I received a $50 U.S. note in the mail and a beautiful card. Sadly the card along with many personal records, medals, were lost due to flood/s. As for the dollar note, for me this represented love, labour and hope. Love from a wonderful Auntie, funding sourced from her own labour and hope for me that someday I would be able to pay forward her kindness. I kept this for a very very long time. Finally the time came that it had to be put to good use, towards the purpose I committed this money for. Even though I had some savings of my own, I exchanged this same dollar note into Pesos and used them to pay for my application fee to travel to Papua New Guinea. That was the start of my journey of paying forward Auntie's kindness. I believe I fulfilled and continue to fulfil this objective to the best of my ability and capability. I would like to thank Auntie for giving me the inspiration and as a consequence feeling at peace with myself that somehow I had my share of that paying forward.

Aside from her emotional intelligence, Auntie was my inspiration when it comes to education. As a teacher that takes kindness and intelligence. Extra curricular activities, writing lesson plans and checking exam papers (I believe with the help of Chel) after school not being paid for those after hours work was kindness in itself especially to the young generation as she believed that education is important in one's life. Auntie graduating with honours and my determination to improve our family's economic condition motivated me to great lengths to achieving something for my self. Traversing through the smelly perfume of a river (Pasig river)in Hidalgo Quiapo, loud and noisy jeepneys, beggars lining along the walls of Quiapo Underpass, gave me renewed perspective each day of my university life and the determination, always guided by that icon of inspiration walking alongside me. Thank you Auntie for being that icon of inspiration.

What a very dignified woman Auntie was. So refined that sometime she scared me. Why? Inheriting my Father's loquaciousness, social alertness, leadership and love for sports, It was hard to align myself to Auntie's standard, I was falling miles away from. Auntie exudes grace. I call her the Royale of the Mendoza clan.

Discernment. I may not have spent a lot of time with Auntie but from them eager encounters I had with her I could truthfully say that her discernment is of high calibre. It was in retrospect that I discovered this quality of my Auntie. The night before Travelling from Sacramento to Seattle Auntie led me to a corner of their home and discussed things about the land in Liit and Uncle Seniong's kids and other vital information. Without saying much she provided me with snippets of information and looking directly at me. When the conversation ended I saw a beautiful smile, a smile of understanding. My take on that was she discerned that I could provide her with advice which agreed with her own purpose. That was an enjoyable discussion Auntie!

You are truly a woman of substance. As I have said a true blue Royale. You and Uncle had the power to steer the bus (your family) to your destination. You influenced people's lives not just your family's but also of those around you far and wide the globe. Your children's achievements are testament to your positive influential attributes.

On behalf of Julian Bacani Mendoza and family this is our tribute to you Auntie. You are now at peace with God. We love you so much. Good-bye.

Missing you, Tia Pacita.. you always remind me of our dearest mom, Mamang Meding . I used to tell you whenever I visit you that you remind me of Mamang Meding and you would respond with a big smile"Talaga?" Really, she would say. Remembering Bae Piting , I used to remember when I was a young child I frequent your place in Tandang Sora and I loved to follow Bae Piting and she'll have a treat for me always. 2 wonderful moms close to our hearts

We were able to watch just now, here in PI Internet is not working fine. Auntie Paz, my Ninang will be missed by all. I love you, Ninang. Ninang has lived a fruitful and meaningfull life. Has touched so many lives specially to us and all Resuello families. She has a niche in our hearts. She is now in peace with our Lord.

Mom was my "guide post." She was the one who steered me into nursing and to apply at UCDMC, "that's the hospital for you." I think fate pointed me to neuroscience nursing since that body of knowledge helped me to understand and answer Mom's questions, ease her anxiety as she started to experience decline in her cognition. She helped me tremendously and unknowingly guided me to what I am now, a sleep deprived night-owl (kidding) who loves to write, read, take pictures, and self-proclaimed family biographer.

Our deepest condolences. Its hard to believe and accept it. She's a super woman for me. I remember when i was a kid she's always giving me dictionary as pasalubong. She gave me 1 large print dictionary and when she had her vacation she gave 1 set of dictionary and followed by another one. Because of her i have collection of dictionaries 😊 when lolo susing and her had their vacation here in ph, we sang rhyme song together, count 1 to ten, asking her name, asking questions about her. *her last vacation here)

I will never say goodbye to a precious woman like her, never. Because she's always here ❤ the good deeds, how she inspired me when i was a kid. She's one of my inspiration why i took this teaching profession.. i'll pray for her soul. She's in the good hands now with our god almighty.

I will miss you, Auntie Paz. You were my inspiration. When Tatay told us you were the brightest in your family, I looked up to you. When I was in High school and Uni I always thought of you. I wanted to be as smart as you are so I studied very hard. Despite working during the night and studied at night I pursued my goal of graduating with honours and I achieved that because of my determination to be like you. Thank you, Auntie Paz... you are now in God's memory awaiting resurrection in the new system of things in paradaisic condition.

This love (Grandma Paz and Grandpa Susing) is what I gauge my own relationships on, they've set the bar so high.

Every time I went to the states to visit, from when I was 5 and the only cousin I had was still in Auntie Mimi's womb through to when I was 25 and there like 25 little cousins Lola Paz would ALWAYS make my visiting like I was at home. Lolo Susing and Lola Paz always welcomed me with open arms like one of their own grandkids, giving me gummy vitamins and showing me some things on the piano and I will miss it and treasure it for the rest of my life. Rest in Paradise Lola Paz, I will miss you.

What a beautiful, inspiring, well informed life and achievements of Ale Pacita! You were humble, obedient loving wife to Mama Susing. I remembered you don't argue with him, you just give him that lovely smile of yours when you were discussing things like improving the kitchen and other stuff, that's how I remembered you very well! What a lovely personality you have, you are not only well educated but also well mannered and well cultured. I shall personally miss you a lot, Ale Pacita and I mean that from the bottom of my heart and soul. Love and prayers, Tessie.

I remember the last time Uncle Susing and Auntie Paz went to my house. They both walk together. What a nice couple. And that was when Auntie Paz had her second surgery already. Her memory at that time was still okey and I know something noticeable already. But we had a good conversation with Uncle Susing and Auntie Paz. One thing I won't forget because we always celebrate Christmas get together party before at her house. We call each other and talk about the preparation for the Christmas party like food to cook and she told me about the elephant game that's where we started doing the elephant game because of her. One thing I won't forget about Auntie Paz, she was a good adviser and a very smart woman. Her memories remain in our hearts.
