Shirley Venita Pal

Shirley Venita Pal was born on Saturday August 3, 1974 at the Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula in Monterey, California. Her zodiac sign, Leo aligned perfectly with her tenaciously vibrant spirit that brought warmth to her friends and family. Her family first mentality was the forefront of her core beliefs. 

As a child, Shirley gained her love for cooking by assisting her mom and dad in the kitchen. She always believed food brought family and friends together. She constantly hosted family and friend cookouts that were always filled with laughter and joy. Her love for the ocean, dolphins and mermaids were essential to her beautiful life of traveling. Shirley had the pleasure of living in many places throughout the United States. Starting in Monterey, California to Los Angeles, California to Charlotte, North Carolina. In Charlotte, she met Michael Knight Sr. eventually moving to Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. After a short stay in Texas, she moved to Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. Her love for her family took her to Hermitage, Pennsylvania. Eventually, moving her back to North Carolina in 1999. She continued to grow her family with Anthony Holden Sr. in Cary, NC. 

Her motherly personality extended beyond her children to her brothers and sister. Her favorite hobbies included many outdoor activities like fishing and camping. Her unique love for exotic animal pets included Piranhas, Oscars, Nile Monitor Lizards, Ball Pythons, and Caiman Alligators. Some of her most memorable moments included beach trips to the shores of North Carolina and an amazing family vacation to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

Her battle with serious medical issues over the past 5 years showed her courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Even while facing these challenges, she continued to serve as a Certified Nursing Assistant helping patients conquer their own health struggles. Despite the pain, Shirley came out a warrior and stayed strong until the end. Shirley passed away on February 24, 2021 at the age of 46 in Raleigh, NC.

Shirley was predeceased by her loving mother, Pratima Narayan; her 4 siblings, Steven Pahalad, David Michel Jr., Cody Pahalad and Britney Michel. She is survived by her three children, Michael Knight, Devon Knight and Anthony Holden Jr.; her 3 grandchildren, Zaiden Knight, Salena Knight and Valentino Knight. Shirley's life and legacy will continue through morals and teachings that have been embedded into her family that will continue for generations to come
