Mary A. Burnes

Mary Ann Burnes (née Begley), after a courageous fight with cancer, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2020 at home with her family. Mary is survived by her nephew, James Begley; niece Genalyn Lobel (Ian Lobel); niece, Julie Begley; granddaughter, Raena Begley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Burnes, parents James R. and Claudia I. Begley, and brother Dewey R. Begley. 

Mary was born on December 19, 1946 in Marysville, California to James and Claudia Begley. She graduated from Norte Del Rio High School, class of 1964 and soon after married her high school sweetheart, Charles E. Burnes in December 1964. She retired as a manager after working for Blue Diamond Growers for over 35 years. Beloved by many of her former co-workers, she kept in touch with many of them and attended their milestones and events. She loved the holidays and often prepared her home, and food, for family and friends. She loved spending time with her niece and granddaughter teaching them how to cook and bake, sharing with them recipes from her mother’s collection. Never afraid of trying new things, she enjoyed riding rollercoasters as well motorcycles. She loved Indian food and the hotter the better. She enjoyed gardening, loom knitting, and Bev Doolittle’s art. These descriptions are but a fraction of the woman Mary is, and her loss will be felt indefinitely.

We ask that people respect that the memorial service will be immediate family-only, but we invite all friends and family to join the service live through Zoom, and we hope that you will join us in sharing great Mary memories and stories , of which there are so many, afterward.
