Lucila Liwanag Obituary

Lucila Fernando Liwanag passed away peacefully in her home in Sacramento, on March 5, 2018 at the age of 75.

Lucila was born on June 30th 1942, in the city of Manila.  She was best known as Lucy by her co-workers, Baby by her family and Lola by her grandchildren.    Lucila was born to Crispina Lagman and Leonilo Fernando in Manila and was their third child.  Her siblings were Roland, Fernando, Linda and Christina.

Lucila met the love of her life, Conrado Liwanag through mutual friends, and they were soon inseparable.  They were each other’s first date, first kiss, and first love.  In August 1964, at the age of 22, they were married in Manila, where daughter Conrada and son Conrado Jr. were born.

While living in Manila, Conrado joined the US Navy, and in the summer of 1970, he moved his family to Norfolk Virginia.  There, Lucila gave birth to her two youngest sons, Cyril and Chris.  The family eventually settled on the West Coast in San Jose where Lucila joined the telecommunications company Nortel.  She made many friends, and remained close to them over the years.

Lucila was a loving and supportive wife, mother and sister.  She worked tirelessly yet still found time to cook amazing dishes for her family.   Together with Conrado, she enjoyed entertaining for the holidays, especially on Christmas, her favorite holiday.  She was honest and straight forward and always fought for what she believed in.  Her greatest gifts were her generosity and desire to help those in need.

She is survived by her four children, Connie and husband John, Conrado Jr. and wife Maria, Cyril, Chris and wife Tiffanie, Beth (Adrian’s Mom),  Sister Christina and husband Marcelino, Sister Linda, six grand children, four great grand-children and twelve nieces and nephews.
