Lloyd Jesse James was born on January 4 th in 1942 in Denver, Colorado. He grew up in Pleasant View and
went to Golden High School before leaving home at the age of 18 and moving to California. He joined
the Worldwide Church of God’s Ambassador College in 1961 in Pasadena, CA and worked as a truck
driver driving up and down the state. He moved to Santa Rosa and it’s there that he met the love of his
life, Doris Ann Porter, and married her in 1972; they moved to Sacramento and had two kids, David and
Stephanie. Lloyd worked in insurance and spent 25 years at the CA DMV until his retirement. His favorite
hobbies were reading, watching old westerns, rooting for the Denver Broncos, and studying the Bible.
He was devoted to the church and his faith and was always willing to lend a hand, give a ride, or help
someone in need. In his later years he enjoyed sitting in the sun while painting cats, mountains and
cowboys, puttering around his yard, and having his daughter take him to the beach. His beloved wife
Doris passed away on July 24, 2021, after 48 years of marriage; he was trying hard to make it to 50 years
so he’s sure to be teasing Doris about that now. He is preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and
Geneva. He is survived by his children, his “favorite” sister, Julie, numerous extended family, and his
friends from the church. Lloyd was well loved and will be missed by many. His funeral will be held at the
North Sacramento Funeral Home on September 13 th at 11 am. He will be laid to rest with his wife at
Camelia Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
