Obituary for Julian Quintero Gonzales
Julian Quintero Gonzales passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 2, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Waltraud E. Gonzales, of Osnabruck Germany, children Michael, Teresa and Daniel, grandchildren, Talia, Julian, Harlan, Veronica and Noel, and great grandson August.
Julian was born in May 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri. He and his sister Anita were raised by only his mother, Antonia. As a child, he grew up very humbly and loved to go to the movies and play with his cousins.
Julian joined the United States Air Force in 1958 to help support his mother and sister. While on assignment in Madrid, Spain, he met his wife attending an Ink Spots performance at a night club. They were married in 1964 and spent 60 years together.
Julian spent most of his life in public service. He served in the Air Force for 25 years. After settling in Sacramento, California he worked for both the County of Sacramento and State of California before retiring in his 60’s.
Julian was passionate about many things in life. He loved animals, homemade Mexican food, and football, especially watching his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
He was also a lover of music and movies and collected records of all kinds. He loved big band artists like Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman. He was excited about early rock and roll from artists like Little Richard and Ray Charles and would get emotional listening to Mariachi music.
One of his favorite pastimes was watching classic black and white movies, but he especially loved “The Wizard of Oz”. He loved spending time at home and attending Catholic services on Sundays.
Julian made many friends throughout his life and will be remembered fondly.
