Obituary
Iris Moore passed away peacefully in Sacramento on August 11th, 2023. She was born on October 28th, 1919 in Kennewick, Washington to George & Vina Fredericks. Iris was predeceased by her husband, the Late Bueford Moore, and is survived by three daughters: Joan Melamed, Jean Clendenen & Juanita Herberger, five grandchildren & 14 great-grandchildren. Iris and her husband were best known for their Vacaville Delicatessen, the first deli to offer catering and fine cuts of meat. In addition to raising her three daughters, she and Bueford worked tirelessly for over 25 years at the deli serving sandwiches, BBQ, and their famous coleslaw. Iris was an excellent homemaker, meticulous seamstress, and proud mother of her daughters. She loved telling people that her twins, Joan and Jean were homecoming queens, Juanita was a Fiesta Queen, and that she was the Queen when she was dancing with her husband in their later retirement years.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Thursday, August 24th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at North Sacramento Funeral Home, 725 El Camino Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95815. A Funeral Service will be on Friday, August 25th, at 10:00 am in the chapel at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery, 522 Elmira Road, Vacaville, CA 95687 followed by a Graveside Committal Service.
