Gerald Francis Fassett
December 22, 1927 – June 26, 2024
In Sacramento on June 26, 2024, Gerald left this world for his final resting place. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Luella, and daughter Laura. He is loved and missed by his remaining children, Janet (John), Jim (Sandie), Dan (Sue), Tom (Rose), Carol (Les), Mary (Dino), Kathleen (Erik), 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Gerald was a graduate of Grant High School and entered the US Navy shortly after graduation. He was a Seaman First Class and served on the USS Independence, USS Geneva and USS Boxer. He received a World War II Victory Medal and was honorably discharged on November 5, 1947. Once back home he attended Sacramento State College and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education. He went on to have an illustrious teaching career in the Sacramento area and proudly retired as a principal. Gerald was an avid gardener. His yard was the envy of many, and a joy to many more. He was involved with his sons in Boy Scouts as Scout Master where he was fortunate enough to travel to National and World Jamborees. Gerald also coached his daughter and grandsons in youth basketball and soccer.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, July 9th, 6:00 pm at North Sacramento Funeral Home, 725 El Camino Avenue, Sacramento. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 11th, 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1717 El Monte Avenue, Sacramento.
