Dennis A. Grosswiler was born on April 6, 1955, in Tokyo, Japan. An Army brat until the passing of his father when they settled on Tokay Lane. Dennis went to school in the Elk Grove area and eventually graduated from Elk Grove High. In 1975 his brother Philip had a friend that thought Dennis should meet her friend Julie. Dennis knew right away that she was the one, Julie took a little more convincing. They were married in May of 1976 and a year later started expanding the family with their daughter Kellie followed by Adam in 1980 and Jacob in 1984.
While living in the Sacramento and Elk Grove area Dennis drove a produce truck and then became an aircraft mechanic for the USAF as a civilian. He made many friends at McClellan AFB and then Travis AFB until retiring after 25 years to help care for his father-in-law at their home in Wilton. Now a farmer and always the social one he enjoyed haggling at the Farmer’s Market selling the Jujubes that they grew. After the passing of his father-in-law, Dennis and Julie took over Wion’s Powder Coating.
Working hard so you could take time off with family was the way Dennis lived. Camping, fishing, hunting, and of course Disneyland were some of his favorite trips with his wife and children and eventually grandchildren. If the family needed help he was there, even if you didn’t, he’d show up.
Dennis is survived by his wife Julie, his daughter Kellie, sons Adam and Jacob, five grandchildren Haley, Grace, Dylan, Olivia and Gunner. Also his brothers Philip and Michael, sister Judy, son-in-law Josh, daughter-in-law Amber, and many other family and friends. He was predeceased by his Father Philip M. Grosswiler, Mother Barbara Ann Laurenzi and Stepfather Hugo Laurenzi.
Dennis was well-loved and will be missed
