Obituary

Charlie W Gifford, aged 81, departed earth to join his heavenly family on Monday May 1, 2023.

Charlie was born on November 17, 1941 in Gholson TX to L H & Mattie Gifford.  He joined the US Air Force when he graduated high school and was assigned overseas to Japan.  While stationed in Japan, he met and fell in love with Chizuko Shimizu.  They were married and started a family with son Lewis Wayne arriving in 1964 and Michiko Marie in 1966.

During his nearly 30 year  Air Force service, Charlie was stationed in Japan, Nebraska, California and Illinois with short stays in Thailand, Taiwan and the Philippines.

After retiring from the Air Force, he began working at the US Post Office, then onto a long career at the CA Franchise Tax Board.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Chizuko, his children Lewis and Michiko, his son-in-law Ritchie DeMers, grandson Benjamin DeMers, his brother Jimmy Gifford, and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, brother, and brother and sister in law.

There will be a memorial service for Charlie on Tuesday May 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillsdale Blvd Church St 6201 Hillsdale Blvd, Sacramento CA.
