Chandra Mati Jas, a strong, fearless, and compassionate woman, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her beautiful home in Elk Grove, California, on April 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 16, 1948, in Suva, Fiji Islands, Chandra lived a life defined by courage, kindness, and generosity. She was an adventurous soul who loved to travel and was brave enough to do it on her own. Her vibrant spirit found joy in gardening, cooking, staying active, and giving back to her community. Whether through her volunteer work at her local church or her daily neighborhood walks, she touched the lives of many with her warmth, humor, and open heart.

Chandra had a long and meaningful career at Kaiser Permanente, where she worked for over 20 years before retiring. Her colleagues admired her not only for her dedication and work ethic, but also for the joy and positivity she brought to the workplace. She had an incredible gift for making people feel supported and seen—often helping family and friends in need without hesitation.

She was the heart of her family, and her love for them was boundless. Chandra is survived by her devoted husband, Ram Jas, and her three beloved children: Elvin Lal, Rohit Lal, and Reena Jas. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Sunjay Lal and Sienna Lal, who brought her endless joy.

Chandra’s beautiful spirit, generous heart, and fearless love will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
