It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carmelo Gison Malones. Following 73 years of life and a lengthy battle with cancer, Milo, as he was known to his loved ones, left this mortal world. His light will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna; his daughters, Barbara (with her husband Phillip Arellano), Kathryn (with her husband Travis Kingsley), and Deisha (with her husband Joshua Wilson); and his grandchildren Riley and Skylar; along with many relatives and friends. They will all lovingly remember Milo and the joy he brought into the world.
His life began on June 23, 1947, in Arevalo, Iloilo City, Philippines. Inocencio and Amada (Gison) Malones had seven children, and Milo was their third. He was an artist, and a man of many passions. He enjoyed cooking, dancing, and playing the piano. He had a soft spot for disco music, corny jokes, and Korean dramas. He was a printer of consummate skill, and a masterful photographer.
Above all his other great accomplishments, Carmelo Malones was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He worked hard to provide for his family and give his children the opportunities he never had. His final act was his greatest. From his deathbed he brought his family back together again. Having accomplished this last labor of love, he left our lives forever.
A visitation will be held at 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, October 7, at North Sacramento Funeral Home, 725 El Camino Avenue, Sacramento. If you have memories of Milo that you’d like to share (especially his corny jokes!), we encourage you to do so at the visitation.
Funeral mass will be held promptly at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 8, at Saint John Vianney Parish, 10497 Coloma Road, Rancho Cordova. Please arrive early as there will be limited seating due to COVID restrictions. Attendees are required to register before entering the church.
