Barbara Mae Dorough
July 2, 1936 –June 6, 2018
Barbara passed away peacefully in the afternoon on June 6, 2018, with her family at her side in Roseville, CA. She is reunited with her late husband Felmon “Leon” Dorough, her son Derrick Wilson, and her eternal friend Reese. She is survived by her Dog Skipper, Daughter, Son, Grand Daughters, Grandsons, Great Grandchildren and many friends.
She was born in Ventura, California and raised her family in Birmingham, Alabama and Fresno, CA. Barbara then moved to Bakersfield, CA with her husband Leon where they lived until his passing. She was an entrepreneur, owning and operating a local uniform shop (VIP Uniforms) for many years in Bakersfield. She built relationships with nearly every public service office from Police, Fire to Paramedics all the way from Fresno to LA County.
Barbara had smile and a laugh that was contagious, her many acts of kindness made her well thought of in her community and beyond. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, and a good party! In her later years, the light of her life was watching Dominic and Mia grow. Although she couldn’t physically make it to watch any of the games or competitions, she was their biggest fan; she would wait eagerly to find out how they did. She loved Mia’s spunky personality and seeing what she was wearing throughout the years. I think Mia reminded her of herself! She loved Dominic’s kind, gentle soul, and the ice cream cones he would bring her! We will miss you Gramma!
