Missionary Alma J. Walls was born in Fresno, California on February 12, 1945 to Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph V. McAlister. Soon after they moved to Oakland, CA. She is the eldest of ten children (eight girls and two boys). Her parents truly believed in family values and insisted that no matter what the family must stay together. Thus, the family has family gatherings every Thanksgiving, Christmas and a family reunion every two years.
Her parents insisted all children must attend church service. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized when she was a member of a holiness church in West Oakland where Mother Harris was the Pastor. She was a reliable and faithful member and enjoyed attending all the services. She learned to play the piano by ear and became one of the church’s pianist and later took piano chording lessons.
In 1962 she united with The Church of the Living God, The Pillar and Ground of the Truth, 819 37th Street, Oakland, CA under the leadership the Late Bishop James A. McFall. Alma Walls loves the Lord and her local, district, diocese and national church families. She was a faithful member of the local, district and national church working in many positions. One of her favorite scriptures was Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Alma was educated in the public school system in Oakland, CA. She attended Prescott Elementary, Lowell Junior High and earned a High School Diploma from McClymonds High School in 1962.
She is Mama to her children, Nina to her grandchildren and great-grand children, Aunt Alma to her nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews and Alma to her siblings.
She was employed by the Federal Government for 26 years, retired at age of 50. Following her retirement, the Federal Government offered her an opportunity to return to school to transition into the private sector workforce. She attended Heald Business College certificate program in 1996. She was an honor student and received a certificate in Computer Business Administration in 1997. After graduating from Heald Business College, she attempted to become an entrepreneur starting a desktop publishing business called “Information Integration”. The business was unsuccessful. So, she had to get back into the workforce. Her private sector employment career as Administrated Assistant began 1997 and ended 2012.
Her hobbies include, naming a few: sewing, crocheting, bowling, and desktop publishing.
