Stanley Lourimore Obituary

After sharing 91 wonderful years with family and friends, Stanley Merl Lourimore passed away peacefully on February 14, 2018. He was a kind man with a huge heart, and thus it was only fitting he passed away on Valentine's Day. Stanley was born on September 21,1926 in Sewickley, Pennsyl-vania. He graduated from Penn State University in 1949 with a Bachelor Degree in Arts and Letters. While attending Penn State, he was a Cheerleader for the Nittany Lions and a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. While in college and prior to graduation, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany following the end of WWII. After graduating from college, he moved to Southern California and later graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law in 1953. In 1954, he joined the California Legislative Counsel's Office as a Deputy, where he worked for 35 years, until retiring as a Principal Deputy ll. Early in his career, Stanley was tasked with updating California's Agricultural Code, which was first enacted in 1933. While working in Southern California, he met the love of his life, Louella Marie Gamble, who lived in the same apartment complex. They were married on April 23, 1960 and later that year moved to Sacramento, where they raised their family and were active members of Fremont Presbyterian Church, Stanley was a quiet yet quick-witted man, who had a deep love of family, history, gardening, and travel. He is survived and missed greatly by his wife and best friend of 57 years, Louella, three daughters Linda L. Nusser, Sally M. Spatafore, and Patricia L. Martin, sons-in law, Ernest, Peter, and Kevin, and grand-children Katharine and Steven Spatafore and Peter, Christine, Megan and Katelyn Nusser. Our cherished experiences with him, as well as the knowledge that he led a full life surrounded by loving family, friends, and colleagues, give us great comfort. The family would like to thank the staff at Aegis of Carmichael and Snowline Hospice for their compassionate care. A celebration of Stanley's life will be held at Fremont Presbyterian Church on April 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Prior to the service he will be interred at the Veteran's Cemetery in Dixon, California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fremont Presbyterian Church at 5770 Carlson Drive, Sacramento CA 95819 or a charity of your choice.
