Reymundo Villanueva Hernandez

Faithful husband, father, grand-father and great-grandfather, Ray Hernandez, 81, passed away in Sacramento on Dec. 15, 2017, with his loving wife of 58 1/2 years, Isabel, by his side. Ray was born on Sept. 29, 1936 to Ignacio and Maria Hernandez in Brady, TX. He had 8 siblings; Rose, Eusevio (Ike), Beatriz, Celia, Luis, Daniel, Marie and Eduardo. He moved to Casa Grande, AZ as a child, where he graduated Casa Grande High School and met his lifelong sweetheart Isabel Lopez Costales - they married June 6, 1959 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Ray and Isabel were blessed with 6 children; Reymundo Hernandez (Cindy); Mary Hernandez; Anna Davis (Bene); Celia Hernandez; Catherine Hernandez Tirey (David); and Joseph Hernandez (Christine). His family was his greatest accomplishment and he was proud Tata to Jennifer (Jeff), Cassandra, Kenneth (Hilary), Kyle, Luke (Chelsey), Zachary, Daniella, Jacob, Joshua, and Jordyn. He was thrilled to be great-grand-father to Ava and Emmalyn. Ray was a loyal servant of the Catholic church and a Fourth Degree member and officer of the Knights of Columbus. He had a 33-year career with the Southern Pacific and Union Pacific railroads in AZ, CA, CO, NM and TX. He attended Kansas City Technical College and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Family and friends are invited to join services at Divine Mercy Church, 2231 Club Center Dr. in Sacramento. Vigil, Visitation and Rosary will be Thurs., Dec. 21 @ 4:30pm with reception to follow. Funeral Mass is Fri., Dec. 22 @ 10am. There will be a private burial. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Ray's name to any cancer-based charities.
