Maureen Louise Truxaw passed away November 7, 2017, at her home in Sacramento. She was
born January 13, 1946, in Anaheim, California.

Maureen’s greatest accomplishment and joy was her children, Annie and Bobby. She was the
proud oldest sister of eight brothers and sisters. She enjoyed the beach and was wild about
swimming in the ocean and riding the waves at Newport Beach. She loved walking on the sand,
climbing over rocks, and finding shells in Morro Bay. She delighted in many trips to warm
waters in Mexico and Hawaii. As a young woman she is well remembered for her love of music
and passionate playing on the piano. She fondly reminisced about her early jobs at her father’s
pharmacy, the Four Seasons, and Disneyland. Her piano talent earned her a college
scholarship and provided special moments for her family.

In recent years, she cherished the time she spent with her grandson, Jacob. Maureen enjoyed
playing cards, Words with Friends, and a lovely cup of hot tea.

In addition to her children Anne and Bob Sherlock and his wife Katie, Maureen is survived by
grandson Jacob, her sisters Patsy (John Hansen), Evie and Marguerite, brothers Paul (Peggy),
John (David Weiss) and Michael Truxaw as well as niece Erin and nephews Brian and David
(Susie Rico) Truxaw and their children Logan and Emma Grace. She will remembered fondly by
her aunts, numerous cousins and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents,
Robert and Patricia Truxaw, and her brother Bobby.

Maureen was a dedicated elementary and special education teacher for over 30 years. She
attended St. Boniface School, Marywood High School, and University of Portland where she
made lifelong friends. Maureen had great compassion for others, especially children and
teaching kids and adults to read for many years. She is fondly remembered as a caring big
sister to her siblings. Through the years she never failed to remember her loved ones with a
card and a call for birthdays and holidays. She was a lifelong Democrat and unafraid of
occasional spirited conversations.

She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in her honor to a public school of your choice.

Services for Maureen will take place in December in Orange County. Please contact either
Annie or Bob if you would like more information.
