Thomas Jeffrey Baker Sr.

Thomas Jeffrey Baker Sr. was born into this life on October 26, 1960 to Thomas E. Baker and Karen Kay Maloney in Des Moines, Iowa.

He attended Cassidy Elementary School and Hoover High School.  Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for twelve years.  There he received valuable training in electronics and had top secret clearance while serving on nuclear ships.  He received an Honorable Discharge as Data Systems Technician Petty Officer 3rd Class on the USS Enterprise.  He was awarded numerous ribbons, medals and awards for his time served including two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, a Humanitarian Service Medal and a First Good Conduct Awards in September of 1983. 

In 1984, he married Deborah Sanders.  From this union, two children were born: Dianna Corun and Thomas Jeffrey Baker, Jr.  Later, in 1998, he met Carolyn Jones and they were married in 2005.

He was a devoted husband and father and always considered his family first when making decisions.  He was also dedicated to extended family members.  He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandson (the apple of his eye) and dog, Delilah.  He also enjoyed indulging in culinary arts and would showcase his skills at family gatherings and special occasions, often making lasagna, cheesecake and spice cake as his favorites.  He loved to bowl and was on an All Star bowling team for over 18 years.  He was an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders and Golden State Warriors. 

Thomas was gainfully employed in the field of electronics for many years and worked for top electronic companies including Hewlett-Packard, Intel and Xerox and the State of California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation.   

Thomas’ relatives and friends will forever cherish him with loving memories.  Leaving behind with cherished memories are his wife Carolyn, daughter Dianna Corun Baker (Ryland Harris), son Thomas Jeffrey Baker Jr., grandmother Dora Mae Baker, father Thomas Edward Baker (Dorothy), mother Karen Kay Maloney Small, former stepmother Mary Ellen Baker, stepdaughter LaDawna Jones, half brother Robert, half sisters Tamara (Albert) & Debra, stepsisters Tamara Tate (Donald) & Stephanie Frazier (Roderick), uncles Arthur Baker (Sharnette) & Howard Baker Sr., (Jane), grandson Major Baker, step granddaughter Quiauna, step grandson Maxwell, brother-in-law Broderick, sister-in-law Valerie extended family members Tasha Watson, Jezzryal Anderson, numerous cousins and other relatives and friends.
