Sam Samaniego

Sam Samaniego passed away October 25, 2017 at the age of 79. He was born in Mexico on July 31, 1938 and grew up in Clarksburg, CA before becoming a longtime resident of Sacramento.

Sam was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Beverly Samaniego (passed 8/18/17), his parents Jesus & Carlota Samaniego, and sisters Elodia (Louis) Torres and Dora (Robert) Cummins.

Sam is survived by his son Henry Samaniego (Kim) of Sacramento, daughter Tessie Westervelt (Kirk) of Folsom, daughter Vickie Sanchez (Larry) of Rancho Murrieta, son Gilbert Samaniego of Sacramento, daughter Emma Samaniego (Jerry) of Sacramento. Grandchildren: Justin (Krista), Kristin, Julie, Anthony (Jessica), Brandon, Jeremiah, Thomas (Brittany) and Daniel. Great grandchildren: Sally, Holly, Alexis and Levi.

Sam is also survived by his brother Joe (Marcella) Samaniego of Anchorage, AK, sister Mercedes (Tom) Grosen of Sacramento, sister Charlotte (Ben) Valdez of Dixon NM, sister Stella Maynard of Roseville, brother George (Jane) Samaniego of El Dorado Hills, brother Robert (Marjorie) Samaniego of Elk Grove, and many nieces and nephews.

Sam was a Teamster Union member and worked as a cabinet maker for Breuners Home Furnishings for 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Sam also enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, watching football on TV, making/building furniture and trinket toys out of wood and going for long drives. He will be missed by all that loved him.

Our family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the staff that cared for our father during his 13 year stay at Norwood Pines Alzheimer’s Care Center and to the Bristol Hospice staff of Sacramento for their kindness, care and support to the very end.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 1:30 pm at North Sacramento Funeral Home, 725 El Camino Avenue, Sacramento. The Celebration of Life reception will be held following the service at the ­­­­­­­­­­­­­VFW Hall, 905 Drever St, in West Sacramento.
