Patricia Sue Maneely—A Remembrance

Above all else, Pat was about family. Her true joy in life were her two sons, their wives, and her four grandchildren. She was extremely proud that “her guys” earned their engineering degrees at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and went on to their successful careers: Justin the Rocket Scientist (Yes, he really is) and Eric, the Assistant Operation Manager at the Budweiser Brewery in Merrimack, New Hampshire (Yes, he gets free beer).

She loved both her daughters-in-law (Amanda and Kate) unconditionally, simply because they loved her sons and made them happy. She would say, “What more could anyone want?”

Pat never pushed family pictures on anyone, but would love to share news about her grandkids. There’s her miracle baby Mason, who born at 27-weeks at 1lb 15oz is now an awesome 6 year old impressing folks with his knack for learning different languages (currently Japanese).  Jack, the 4 year old that loves to make people laugh (you may have seen his dancing video where he tells the camera, “I just shake my body!”). Charlie at 15 months is adorable with the cutest smile and walking around laughing (he is a ringer for the little boy in the book “Love you Forever”). Latest is Scotlynn at 9 months (the first girl and already has everyone wrapped around her little finger).

In 1986, Pat, Chris and the boys moved to Oregon to be closer to Pat’s sister Cindy (and her kids Kyle and Stacie) and brothers Darrell and Don. Nearly 8 years later, missing her parents (and the sun), they moved back to California, but she remained very close to her sister, brothers, nephews, and nieces.

Pat was blessed with having both parents close by, that were not only loving and caring about their baby girl, but were her role models in life. They helped Pat define her moral compass and molded her into the wonderful woman that we all knew and loved. Who better to teach her to love her SF Giants (it’s an even year!), 49ers (good AND bad years) and Sacramento Kings teams?

Pat was very proud of working for the Girl Scouts. While working there, there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do in order to help someone out. Talk about a Team Player! From assisting the organization and helping to train what Customer Service meant to her, helped and encouraged others to improve their service to others. Helping others wasn’t so much of a job for her, but more of a life’s calling. Giving back, helping others, encouraging others to do their best: that was Pat. She was special.

Pat… She was truly one of a kind. She will be missed by all that knew her. Things are a bit darker without her shining smile and loving spirit, but have you noticed that the heavens seem a little brighter? I think we know why.
