Manuel Gonzalez Islas

Manuel G. Islas, age 92, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on February 9, 2018 in West Sacramento. He was born on December 21, 1925, in San Bernardino, CA. With the outbreak of WWII, Manuel enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific. Honorably discharged at the end of the war, he met and married Mary Susan Salazar. Together they raised 5 children and celebrated 56 years of marriage. He retired as a sheet metal mechanic from McClellan Air Force Base. Manuel truly lived to the fullest by traveling and volunteering in his community extensively. Manuel is survived by his loving daughter Cynthia Islas, David Salazar and Pamela Spicer. Manuel also leaves 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife, sons Richard and Rudy, and infant daughter Pamela
