Guy Emory Jellison

October 10, 1922 ~ November 30, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Guy Emory Jellison passed in the late evening of November 30, following surgery. Guy was born October 10, 1922, in Standish, California, to parents Gordon and Lola Custis Jellison. Guy lived his early childhood in Taylorsville, California, until moving to Yerington, Nevada, when he was 8 years old. Although he attended the first three years of high school in Yerington, Guy finished his high school years in Sacramento, graduating from Grant Union, Class of '40.

Guy served with the 535th Anti-Aircraft Artillery-Automatic Weapons Battalion in WWII, earning a Purple Heart medal during the battle for Remagen Bridge, landing at Utah Beach in Normandy, and serving in the Battle of the Bulge, among other duties in the European theater. Guy shipped home in October 1945, however the friendships and memories of his WWII years stayed with him all his life, fueled throughout the years by many tearful and joyful reunions. When Guy settled back to civilian life in Sacramento, he made two important decisions: Rejoining the Bank of America, from which he retired as a branch manager in 1984, and marrying Nellie Wheat Jellison, who would be his devoted wife for the next seventy years. Guy and Nellie were the proud parents of two sons, Ron of Carmichael and Tim of San Francisco, and proud grandparents of Ryan, and great grandparents of Nick, who lives in Los Angeles. Guy enjoyed golf, camping, fishing, hunting and gardening on the property that he and Nellie owned since the 1940's in the Arden-Arcade area. Guy was active during his working years with the Rotary Club and in later years with the Bank of America retiree group. He was past president of the National Foundation of Ileitis and Colitis, Sacramento Chapter, and served many years as treasurer for the 535th Association. Guy relished time with family and organized many reunions that were well attended by his immediate family as well as cousins, nephews, nieces and their families.

The family suggests donations be made in Guy's honor to the Red Cross or local Veterans' group.
