Our faithful husband and loving father passed away peacefully at home Friday, July 7, 2017, from complications due to cancer. He was born in Woodland, CA on December 16, 1930, the only child of Lester and Sara Harbey. As a boy, he was a member of Boy Scout Troop 5 in Berkeley, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Berkeley High School in 1948. After service in the Korean War, he graduated from Sacramento State College in 1957. Later that year he began what would become a 35 year career with Sacramento County. In 1961, he married Carole, whom he met while fixing her flat tire. He enjoyed many diverse hobbies - stamp & coin collecting, reading, racing motorcycles with the Polka Dots Motorcycle Club, fishing, camping, traveling the USA and the world, attending plays, visiting the family home in Lakeport and making buttermilk pancakes every Saturday morning for us. He was an active member at Arcade Church for over 35 years and will be missed by the congregation. The delight of his life was his family. He is survived by his wife, Carole, and daughters Laura (Eric) Peterson and Julia (Rob) Jones and grandchildren Seth, Blake and Victoria Peterson and Madeleine, Claire and Hudson Jones. He will be laid to rest in Lakeport, CA. Friends are invited to join us for a Memorial Service on Tuesday, July 18 at 1pm at Arcade Church 3927 Marconi Ave., Sacramento
