Bellene “Billie” Yost

Age 87, ended all her cares in quiet death on April 20, 2017. She was born in Oklahoma on October 26, 1929, at the start of the Great Depression. She traveled the grapes of wrath on Route 66 to California where she met the love of her life, Gene, in Fresno where they began their family. They moved to San Francisco, Crockett, and Vallejo before settling in Sacramento in a brand‑new home in the Meadowview neighborhood in 1960. They lived there until their final days, always working tirelessly with a cup o’ joe to provide a comfortable home for their entire family. Billie worked from age 12 and retired after 50 years of work ending at the Campbell Soup cannery in Sacramento. She made food from scratch including her favorites, coffee cake and bierocks, which she learned from her German mother‑in‑law, and her signature dish, pot roast.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene; siblings Vada, Tommy, Paul, and Teddy; and her sons Danny and Randy. She is survived by her siblings Norman and Norma; her sons Stephen, Clifton, and Lewis; grandchildren Louie, Karen, Nicholas, and Danny; and great grandchildren Nicholas, Claudia, Isaac, Aaliyah, Elijah, and Kalani.

 A funeral will be held on Friday, April 28 at 3 p.m. at North Sacramento Funeral Home at 725 El Camino Ave, Sacramento CA.
